db the various characters
Son Goku: The main character of the Dragon Ball series. Taken in by Son Gohan, his foster grandfather, he was a wild child until one day when he fell off of a cliff and hit his head. From then on her was a good kid. One night, he stared at he full moon (uh-oh) and went into Oozaru mode... he stepped on Son Gohan, and killed him. From that point on, he had to live by himself. After Son Gohan died, he took his Nyoibo, or extending staff, and made it his own. A few years later after that incident, he met Bulma and joined her on the search for Dragon Balls. He met Kamesennin before his training began, and got a Dragon Ball from him thanks to Bulma's naughty bits, and also received the Kintoen. Afterwards, he met various characters after that point, got into many battles, and began his training with Kamesennin alongside Kuririn. After that training was complete, Son Goku, Kuririn, and Kamesennin (secretly) entered the 21st Tenkaichi Budoukai, in which Jackie Chun (Kamesennin) won, and Son Goku took second. After that the skermishes with Blue Shogun, Tao-Pie Pie, and everyone else began. The end of that series of battles was declared with the defeat of Black Hosa. A little while after that, he met Uranai Baba. After THAT, he participated in the 22nd Tenkaichi Budoukai, and once again came in second, this time courtesy of Tenshinhan. After this, Piccolo-Daimao and his demon spawns were released and he engaged in some battles with them. The end of that was marked by Piccolo's defeat in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai, in which Son Goku plowed through Piccolo's stomach. After that, he married Chichi and then came Gohan. They live at 439 East District, Mount Paozu.
Son Gohan: No, not Son Goku's kid. His foster grandfather. He had trained with Kamesennin under Mutaito-Sama. He left and lived on Mount Paozu for the rest of his life. One day, he found a space capsule with a kid in it. That kid was Son Goku. Son Gohan took him in and raised him as his own, but Son Goku was a wild child, and didn't want anything to do with good ol' Son Gohan. Son Goku was acting wild one day and then fell down a cliff and banged his head. Son Gohan nursed him back to health and from then on he was a good kid. But then one night, Son Goku looked at the moon and went Oozaru. Son Gohan wasn't exactly sure what to do, but before he could think, splat. He met Oozaru-Son Goku's foot. He met Son Goku a few other times while he was in the afterlife (when Son Goku met Uranai Baba and when he fixed the Furnace of Eight Divinations). That's about the last we see of good ol' Son Gohan.
Kuririn: Son Goku's best friend. A former monk of the Orinji Temple. He left to train at Kamesennin's because the Elder Monks at Orinji Temple made fun of him. He first met Son Goku when he began his training under Kamesennin. They trained alongside, and then participated in the 21st Tenkaichi Budoukai, where Kuririn was promptly beaten by Jackie Chun (Kamesennin). Kuririn entered the 22nd Tenkaichi Budoukai, only to fall short again (haha, fall SHORT. haha!! ok I'll shut up now...) at the hands of his "friend" Son Goku. After this, he engaged in battle with Tamborine and was killed by his hands. He was brought back, however, using the Dragon Balls. Then he participated in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai where he was once again beaten. This time by the hands of Piccolo. That pretty well ends his stint in DB.
Bulma: Also a big character in DB. If it weren't for her, the series wouldn't exactly be where it is, now would it? She is the daughter of Dr. Briefs, famous founder of Capsule Corp.. She is a scientific genius and is the creator of perhaps one of the most important items, the Dragon Radar. She has various important points in DB, but I don't know them in extreme detail... I do know that her and Yamcha start going out though, but that ends later and... I'll get into that in the DBZ character section... anyways... she lives in West City, home of Capsule Corp.. She attended West City Senior High School and according to police records... her ID number is SSC 41453.
Kamesennin: Also known as Master Roshi, Mutenroshi, and Jackie Chun. He's also one of the major characters in DB. He was trained alongside Tsurusennin under Mutaito-Sama. After his training was completed, he began creating his own Kame-style martial art form. One of the moves he developed, the Kamehameha, took him 50 years to create and master. Near the beginning of DB, he begins training Kuririn and Son Goku. One of his first orders was for them to find him a "maid". Son Goku fails pretty badly, but with the help of Kuririn finds a suitable one by the name of Ranchi. After which he participated in the 21st Tenkaichi Budoukai, and beat Son Goku for the win. He also participated in the 22nd, but lost to Tenshinhan because he refused to fight him. That was his only Tenkaichi Budoukai loss. Next up he died. Yeah, he died using the Mafuu-Ba technique on Piccolo-Daimao. Some good that did, eh? He's brought back though, and he continues his life on his small little island in the Kame House. Kamesennin is a HUGE porn addict. As a matter of fact he owns the world's largest collection of porn! How odd... his home address is NBI8250012B and he weighs 91 lbs..
Oolong: The shapeshifting pig in DB. He first meets Son Goku and Bulma when he is terrorizing a small village and stealing its little girls, in hope of making them "work" for him. He stopped in his tracks by Son Goku, however, and joins them. His importance is somewhat limited in DB, but I guess one of the more important things he did was change Pilaf's wish for world domination into a wish for panties (he's a big pervert, thus why he ends up living with Kamesennin). He trained alongside Puar in a shapeshifting school, in which he did well, but not as good as Puar, as Oolong can only stay morphed for 5 minutes, and afterwards has to rest 1 minute before going again. He weighs 71 lbs., oddly enough the same as Pilaf's weight, but you know, they ARE the same size...
Puar: The shapeshifting cat (if you ask me I think he looks like Rocky the Flying Squirrel...) in DB. He lives out in the desert as a bandit with Yamcha and tries to guide him and support him in whatever he's doing. He joins up with Son Goku, Bulma, and Oolong after Son Goku defeats Yamcha and he joins up with them. Puar trained in the same shapeshifting school as Oolong, and trained alongside of him. Puar is a much better shapeshifter, however, as he can change into many shapes as often as he wants without waiting, and he doesn't have a time limit on how long he can do it. Just as long as he can concentrate on being that object. Like Oolong, his importance is limited...
Pilaf: The self-proclaimed ruler of the world. He's a little blue imp who himself is pretty weak, but his castle is covered in traps which kinda gives him a home field advantage over his opponents. He steals the Dragon Balls from Son Goku, and almost makes his wish for true domination, but Oolong steps in and makes him wish for panties instead. After this, Pilaf, Red Ribbon, and Son Goku and the others are all after the Dragon Balls. After the Red Ribbon Saga, Pilaf kinda fades away. Then he comes back when he opens the denshi jar and releases Piccolo-Daimao. Then he fades away once more. But he does make a short reappearance in GT.
Tenshinhan: The 6 ft. tall, muscle-bound, 3-eyed bald man in DB. He's probably the best student to come out of Tsurusennin's training. For the first couple of tiems we see him, he's a villain. He has the same hates and things are Tsurusennin. He also makes money off an innocent village with Chao-Zu by having a warthog they have attack a town, and then they step in and offer to take care of it for a hefty sum of money. His best friend is Chao-Zu (it's almost as if they're two carnie freaks that escaped together o_O) . He's almost his bodyguard, seeing as how pissed he gets whenever someone pushes around his little buddy. But anyways, he fights in the 22nd Tenkaichi Budoukai, and beats Son Goku soundly. But he sees that Tsurusennin has had him built up for this all along just so he can get even with Kamesennin, so he stops his training under him and leaves him. In the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai, Tenshinhan is back, and he fights Cyborg Tao-Pie Pie first, who slashes him across the chest with a conceiled knife for betraying Tsurusennin. He's DQed for that stint, but Tenshinhan beats the shit out of him afterwards. But now he's scarred across the chest for life because of that.
Yamcha: The desert bandit Yamcha. He robs people in the desert with his best friend, the blue mighty morphin' kitty-cat Puar. He's first seen when he fights Son Goku, but then it's interupted when Bulma appears and he runs off. But Yamcha fights Son Goku again, and this time the match is complete and Son Goku wins. Yamcha joins up with them, and helps them out for some ways. Then he participates in the 21st Tenkaichi Budoukai, where's he's swiftly beaten by Jackie Chun in one move. Then he disappears for a short while. He returns in the 22nd Tenkaichi Budoukai, but is promptly beaten by Tenshinhan. He comes back for a final stint in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai, but is beaten in the first round by Shen, who is secretly Kami-Sama. He ends up going out with Bulma, but breaks up because he's fickle and wants other women too.
Mai: The main female lackie of Pilaf's.... that's about it. Haha.
Shuu: The idiot ninja dog lackie of Pilaf's who works alongside Mai. He's a complete and total dolt and Pilaf thinks he's incompetent, unlike Mai.
Piccolo: This is the main Piccolo that came from Planet Namek. He was the child of Kotatsu (somethin like that...). He was sent to Earth because it was storming badly on Namek and it was thought that they'd all die (but they didn't). He landed on Earth and began training and learning about the world. His mind was being torn apart by his evil intentions and good intentions, so he split into two... one of which is Piccolo-Daimao, his pure evil embodiment. His other was Kami-Sama, his embodiment of his good.
Piccolo-Daimao: When Piccolo split, he became Piccolo-Daimao and Kami-Sama. When Piccolo-Daimao was created, he was an unruley and moody person and Kami-sama didn't want that fellow roaming around on peaceful Earth, so he sealed Piccolo-Daimao in the denshi jar. He stayed there for 600 years, but then, Pilaf opened up the jar and boom! He's back and with some lackies. He reigns terror on Earth until Son Goku kills him. Right before he dies, however, he lays an egg (Namekians are asexual, you know...). That egg hatches and becomes...
Piccolo Jr./Ma Junior: Piccolo Jr., Ma Junior, or as most call him... simply Piccolo. When Piccolo hatched and Piccolo-Daimao died, he was essentially Piccolo-Daimao reborn. He had the same hate for Son Goku that his father did, and that carried on in him. Since he was basically still Piccolo-Daimao, except not quite as evil, Kami-Sama didn't die. Piccolo tried to get his revenge on Son Goku for his father's death in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai, and damn near blew up the island trying, but when he became gigantic and tried to gain the upperhand that way, Son Goku plowed through his stomach, which he eventually recovers from.
Kami-Sama: The good part of the seperated Piccolo. He sealed Piccolo-Daimao away in the denshi jar after he was created. Kami-Sama also created the Dragon Balls for Earth after he became God. If he dies, the Dragon Balls go with him. He competed with Garlic for the title of God, but the current Kami before him chose in favor of Kami-Sama and sealed Garlic in the Dead Zone. Kami-Sama posesses Shen, a normal ol' human, and enters the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai to meet the new Piccolo, but things get wavy and he leaves... Kami-Sama also trained Son Goku for 3 years...
Mr. Popo: He is Kami-Sama's black Arabian octopus-man assistant. He trains Son Goku a bit and teaches him how to sense ki. He part in DB is relatively minor, yet strangely major. o_O
Tsurusennin: The Crane Master. Tsurusennin trained alongside Kamesennin under Mutaito-Sama. Kamesennin was better than him though, and Tsurusennin was always jealous of him. After he left and made his own martial art form, Tsuru-style martial arts, he began training Tenshinhan and Chao-Zu. Tenshinhan was his pride and joy. He sent him after Son Goku, Kamesennin's best student, and Tenshinhan beat him. He laughed at Kamesennin's failure, but Tenshinhan notices that and he and Chao-Zu leave his training because he was being used for personal revenge. After that Tsurusennin is never heard from again I don't believe, other than Tao-Pie Pie trying to take revenge on Tenshinhan for him, and failing. Tao-Pie Pie is Tsurusennin's younger brother.
Ranchi: Ranchi is Kamesennin's maid. She has a personaility disorder that kicks in whenever she sneezes. She changes from Ranchi to the evil gangster Kushami. Oddly enough, this is whenever Kamesennin is even beginning to attempt fondling her... which often ends in tragedy for him. After a while, she falls in love with Tenshinhan and runs off chasing after him.
Chao-Zu: Chao-Zu is the little clown boy who is always by Tenshinhan's side. He trained alongside Tenshinhan under Tsurusennin. He's the former emperor of some country... and he helps Tenshinhan when he robs the townsfolk of villages. His role in DB is pretty minor... he makes an appearance at the 22nd Tenkaichi Budoukai and fights Kuririn, but loses to him. He doesn't even make it into the finals in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai.
Senpyou: Karin, as most people know him. He his the cat that lives in Karin Tower. He is also the only person able to grow the ever-useful Senzu Beans. He trained Son Goku for a bit and made him drink the Super Holy Water, which coincidently was normal tap water. Later on he drank the Super God Water, which actually was a large powerup for him, since if you drink that and you aren't capable of controlling the powerup, you die. That's pretty much the end of his usefulness in DB. His home address is FFA44196SQ.
Uranai Baba: Uranai Baba is Kamesennin's older sister. She's a fortune teller that has the ability to pass through the Afterlife and Mortal Plain freely. She let's Son Goku see his grandpa Son Gohan a few times. In her fortune telling business, if people can't afford her fee, they must fight her band of ghoulish warriors, such as Dracula Man, Devil Man, Mummy Man, Invisible Man... if they can beat them, they get their fortune read for free. Son Goku and company had to fight them, but won the fight pretty easily. Her home address is FS199644CC.
Tao-Pie Pie: The world reknown expert assassin. He's Tsurusennin's younger brother, and a master of arms. Before his battle with Son Goku, his assassin career had a flawless record. The guy is pretty cruel. He killed the Indian Bora right in front of his kid! When he fought Son Goku the first time, he was able to totally whoop him. But... when he fought Son Goku a second time, he did really bad and resorted to trying to blow him up with a grenade, but Son Goku kicked it back to him and it blew up, screwing him up pretty bad. He was rebuilt, made stronger, faster, more efficient (ok, enough with the "Billion Dollar Man" bit). He become Cyborg Tao-Pie Pie. He returned in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai and tried to gain revenge for Tsurusennin on Tenshinhan, since he quit on his former master. He managed to get a good slash across his chest, but he got DQed from the fight. After words, Tao-Pie Pie got the poo beat out of him by Tenshinhan. Tao-Pie Pie weighs 155.5 lbs..
Red Sousei: The leader of the Red Ribbon Army. He's the person behind all the Red Ribbon Army officiers scouring the globe for the Dragon Balls and hunting down Son Goku. He's gathering up the Dragon Balls so he can wish to be... taller. When he tells his right hand man Black Hosa his plan, he's awestruck and just caps Red Sousei in the forehead with his gun.
Black Hosa: Red Sousei's right hand man. When Red Sousei told him about his plan, he shot him in the forehead. He didn't think someone with that stupid of a plan should be in charge of this army, so he took over his position as leader. Son Goku came in and fought him in an attempt to make him stop, but Black Hosa jumped into the top-secret Red Ribbon Battle Jacket. Son Goku just plowed through it and made it explode, killing Black Hosa.
White Shogun: The Commander of the Red Ribbon Army forces in the northern region of the land. He's also the commander over the Muscle Tower, which is basically a maximum security prison, where they have 5 people watching over the floors of the tower.
Blue Shogun: The gay commander of the Red Ribbon Army. He commands the forces in the Southeastern region of the world. He absolutely HATES women, and is deathly afraid of mice. He has several little skirmishes with Son Goku, the last of which is in Penguin Village, where Arale beats the crap outta him and makes him retreat. Upon getting back to Red Ribbon HQ, he meets Tao-Pie Pie and is then promptly killed by his tongue. What an odd fellow..
Agent Purple: The ninja on the 1st floor of the Muscle Tower. His fight with Son Goku is pretty cool, but then he's blown up #8's internal bomb. Even more interesting, Agent Purple has a stash of pornography that is second in size only to Kamesennin's collection. Freaky...
Android #8: Android #8. He kinda resembles Frankinstein. He's a peaceful android, and doesn't like to fight at all. He accompanies Son Goku to Muscle Tower, where at the bottom he uses his internal bomb to blow up Agent Purple. More interesting... he was created by Dr. Frappe, not Dr. Gero, but Dr. Gero is said to have created all of the androids. Plothole, no?
Yajirobe: The katana-weilding wandering monk. He's a pretty badass guy in DB. He even eats a villain (Cymbal, to be precise), which I find to be pretty amusing. Other than that, I really don't know that much about the guy in DB... hehe...
Chichi: Son Goku's future wife and Gyuu Maou's daughter. Son Goku and her met early in DB, but then never saw each other for a pretty long time... until the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai. However, Son Goku had promised to marry her if he beat her in a fight, so when he beat her in the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai, he had no choice but to fulfil his promise. She gave birth to one kid in DB, and that would be Gohan.
Gyuu Maou: The father of Chichi. Also known as the Magical Cow King. He and Chichi used to live on Mount Frypan, but then it was set on fire and they were forced to live at the base. He trained under Kamesennin for a period of time, as well.
Arale Norimaki: The robotic daughter of Senbe Norimaki. She lives in Penguin Village, the setting of Toriyama's other series Dr. Slump. She's seen when Son Goku and Blue Shogun are fighting in Penguin Village and she steps in and knocks the crap outta Blue Shogun with the Arale Kick. That's all she does in DB, pretty much.
Senbe Norimaki: Very simply, Arale and Taabo's genius father. He may be a genius, but you know, he's still a little "off his rocker".
Taabo Norimaki: Senbe's son whose intellect exceeds his father's. He's the only other person in the world that can build a Dragon Radar from scratch.
Supaaman: This guy is HILARIOUS. He's a little midget guy that runs over to a telephone booth whenever trouble arises and changes into Supaaman. He gets his power from eating Pickled Plums, so he says.
Kurikinton Soramame: The barber of Penguin Village.
Tarou Soramame: The barber of Penguin Village's first son.
Pisuke Soramame: The barber of Penguin Village's second son.
Aoi Kimidori: Owner of the Coffee Pot Cafe in Penguin Village. Has a younger sister, Akane Kimidori.
Mutaito-Sama: Teacher of Tsurusennin and Kamesennin. Dies while performing the Mafuu-ba technique on Piccolo-Daimao.
Annin: The guardian at Mount Gogyou. Watches over the Furnace of Eight Divinations.
Silver Taisa: First Red Ribbon officer Son Goku fights. He's in charge of the western deserts. Beats him soundly, but doesn't kill him.
Yellow Taisa: The Red Ribbon commander that looks like a tiger. Killed by Son Goku when he's knocked out of his own plane by Son Goku.
Violet Taisa: The highest ranking female officer in the Red Ribbon Army.
The Bacterian: The big, fat, stinky competetor in the 21st Tenkaichi Budoukai. His main power is his stench. This is useful, but he fights Kuririn in the 21st T.B., and since he has no nose, the Bacterian's strength is neutralized and Kuririn manages to win.
Namu: The Indian (as in turban wearing, living in the middle-east in a desert Indian) that competed in the 21st Tenkaichi Budoukai so his village could have water.
